Modern medicine has changed people’s lives and well-being, but some ancient remedies can still be found in high-tech hospitals. Sean Fletcher is in Hendy, south Wales, to visit Europe’s most productive leech farm, which supplies 70% of the world’s medicinal leeches. He comes along for feeding time and learns how these once-vilified three-jawed creatures are making a comeback, assisting patients in recovering from trauma or severe infections.
