It’s halfway through the race across Canada. As the teams navigate the Hudson Bay ice flows, they pass from Manitoba to Nunavut, a territory the size of Western Europe populated by the Inuit. The ice serves as a hunting field for seals and the polar bears that feed on them. It is also a popular summer vacation destination for beluga whales.
