A shark strikes a 23-year-old Russian guy swimming just metres off the shore in the Red Sea tourist resort of Hurghada, Egypt, on June 8, 2023. Tourists on the beach are terrified. His injuries are so serious that he passes away before help arrives. Within hours, videos of the attack began to circulate on social media. It comes less than a year after two ladies were murdered by sharks on the same stretch of coast in the space of two days. This level of violence is unparalleled in the Red Sea.
