24 Hours in Police Custody 4 January 2022: Tuesday on Channel 4

The finale of a two-part special that takes viewers behind the scenes of a police investigation into an 11-week-old baby’s death. Both the mother and her partner are suspected of inflicting injuries on the infant on a magnitude comparable to those seen in the well-known case of Baby P, although neither has been arrested. DI The investigation’s main investigator, Lucy Thomson of Cambridgeshire’s Major Crime Unit, has opted not to expose her hand yet. However, when police respond to a 999 call reporting a disturbance at the couple’s flat, the enquiry takes a dramatic turn.

About 24 Hours in Police Custody

`24 Hours in Police Custody’ shows the challenges faced by staff members at the busy Luton Police Station, bringing viewers access that was previously not widely available. More than 80 cameras follow the Bedfordshire police, from the station’s holding cells to the heart of major crime investigations and interrogation rooms. The programme follows the officers as they respond to calls, arrest suspects and try to get enough evidence to charge the suspected perp. They’ll have to get it all done quickly because the law only allows police to keep prisoners against their will for up to 24 hours before being charged.

This show is broadcast on Channel 4.
