Gayle King Will Interview President Obama for “CBS Sunday Morning;” Scott Pelley Will Talk with Mr. Obama for “60 Minutes”

Interviews to Be Broadcast Sunday, Nov. 15

Former President Barack Obama will talk exclusively with CBS News in his first television interviews following the 2020 presidential election and before the release of his new memoir, A Promised Land, it was announced today. CBS THIS MORNING co-host Gayle King will interview Mr. Obama for CBS SUNDAY MORNING and Scott Pelley will talk with the former president for 60 MINUTES. Both interviews will be broadcast Sunday, Nov. 15.

The interviews will be conducted in Washington, D.C. A preview will air Thursday, Nov. 12 on THE CBS EVENING NEWS with NORAH O’DONNELL and Friday, Nov. 13 on CBS THIS MORNING.

The interviews will be Mr. Obama’s first on-camera sit-down following the election of his former vice president and now President-elect Joe Biden. The interviews also mark the launch of his new book, A Promised Land, which will be released Nov. 17 and feature his thoughts on his own political ascent and presidency.

On the same Sunday 12 years ago, Mr. Obama appeared on 60 MINUTES with his wife, Michelle, in their first post-election interview.

CBS News will feature excerpts of the interview on all CBS News broadcast and digital platforms, along with CBS News Radio.

Additionally, the interviews will be presented at a later date as a primetime special on BET and will be featured by our international partner the BBC.
