  1. Margaret Russell MD says:

As a follow up to the Ritchie Boys story you really need to interview Margarete Fallat, Sandpoint, ID. She is 97 and was strong-armed into being a critical translator for Hitler’s transport centers. She knew when and where all the transport trains were going. She managed to give this type of info to the underground and she (and her mother) eventually had to secretly be smuggled out of Germany. She was fluent in at least 6 European languages and English. Margarete and her mom would bring buckets of milk and warm potatoes to the train station when Jewish transports came through. Her father was a professor killed by the Nazis.
She translated for an American pilot downed behind enemy lines. He said he would wait for her in England after being smuggled out of Germany. He did. His last name was Fallat.
    Her email is [email protected].
