Craig and Bruno’s Great British Road Trips – 22 August 2021 – 22/8/2021 – Sunday – ITV

Episode 6: Scottish Lowlands and Highlands

In the final episode Craig and Bruno take on a spectacular scenic Scottish road trip as they follow the A82 from the Lowlands, up through the wild rugged mountains and valleys of the Highlands, to Ben Nevis.

Starting in Glasgow, it is just half an hour before the boys hit Loch Lomond. Skirting the bonnie banks, their first stop is the Luss Estate for a Highland Games Masterclass, taking on the hammer throw, caber toss and Highland fling with mixed results

Heading further north, they seek out a unique view of Rannoch Moor from the Glencoe Mountain Resort, but have to brave a chair lift (and several thousand midges) to climb the 2200ft snow-capped Meall a’Bhuiridh to experience the stunning panorama.

They take a diversion off the A82 to seek out Glen Etive and what’s become known as ‘Skyfall Road’, having provided the iconic backdrop to the Bond film, before heading to Glencoe Valley for a true taste of the wilderness. There, they explore on foot under the expert guidance of Highlander Ian McCloud who takes them on a ‘Scottish Safari’ where they hope to spot Red Deer in their natural habitat.

Craig tries to impress Bruno with some impromptu wild cooking and an attempt to rustle up a traditional cock-a-leekie soup to help fuel the final stretch of the drive to Fort William. And seeking out the perfect view of Ben Nevis, the boys follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria – but it’s anything but plain sailing when they swap the car for a rowing boat to reach their final destination.
