George Clarke’s Old House, New Home – 19 January 2020 – 19/1/2020 – January 19 – Sunday – Channel 4

Episode 3
Season 6, Episode 3
In Manchester,George meets a family of five with a Victorian coach house that’s more 1960s than 1860s. It has been extended in every which way, with a nasty conservatory slapped on the front, a dining room they can’t all fit in, and a staircase carving up the living room. However, what makes this home so shocking is the fact that it has a whopping four entranceways, and none of them is nice! It’s a first for George. Can he unlock its potential and work out where the main way in is? On the south coast, George also helps a young couple in Hove get to grips with a 16th-century gate house with a kitchen-diner that resembles a Tudor banqueting hall. What period features will they preserve and what can be stuck in the skip?

About George Clarke’s Old House, New Home

Restoration man George Clarke shows how a modern interior can transform a period home without messing with the home’s history. In each programme, George tackles two very different makeovers on properties from the same architectural era. He focuses on design dilemmas when trying to achieve a stunning modern look in a period home, proving that it is possible to create a perfect blend of old and new, and still celebrate a home’s heritage. Viewers are welcome to watch how homes, such as a 1930s semi in Liverpool or a medieval farmhouse in Kent, can be transformed.

This show is broadcast on Channel 4.
