Heathrow: Britain's Busiest Airport 17 August 2022: Series 8 Episode 5 on ITV 11

Holidays are put on hold tonight, as it’s the Queen’s Jubilee and Heathrow is entertaining 72 military aircraft flyby 5,500 feet above its runway. With the airspace closed to commercial flights for 20 minutes, passengers waiting to board their flights have a ringside view of the red arrows billowing out their coloured smoke above the terminals on their way to Windsor Castle.

The excitement doesn’t reach all passengers in the terminals – as a loud sound of snoring comes to the attention of Passenger Experience Manager Suki, who then has a race on his hands to get sleeping beauty to the gate for their flight to Toronto.

Also racing to catch their flight are a mother and daughter flying to South Africa to attend a close family relative’s funeral. Emotions run high as time ticks away without the correct paper work, so it’s down to Passenger Experience Manager Harry to come to the rescue – but is it already too late?

With the forecast for passengers using Heathrow reaching over 50 million this year, the reopening of Terminal 4 is very welcome for travellers and airlines alike…. one of which – Vietnam Airlines – is putting on a bit of a show to welcome their passengers back to their terminal, whilst also hoping it will distract from a new kid on the block, Bamboo Airlines, who are in direct competition with them.

About Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport

This documentary series follows the daily activity at Britain’s largest international airport, London Heathrow. Cameras capture the busy airport in action, as staff from all departments work together to keep operations running smoothly. Because thousands of passengers fly to and from the airport every day, strict management is required to ensure safety measures are in place and there are no delays. Episodes follow the staff as they deal with missing passengers, questionable luggage and wild animals.

This show is broadcast on ITV.
