Season 1, Episode 2
In a potentially life-changing experience, four families must make a big decision about their meat eating habits. With expert guidance, for three weeks they care for farm animals in their own homes. The families must then decide either to save them, and send the animals to a sanctuary, or to reintroduce them back into the food chain – and face the prospect of their animals becoming their dinner. Dawn, John and the boys have fallen in love with pigs Reenie and Pauline. But a vegetarian BBQ goes disastrously wrong. Is vegetarianism a lifestyle choice they can make to save their animals? Meanwhile there are new arrivals for Pam, Lou, Jade and Jazmyn who are responsible for rearing two lambs. Meat eating is an essential part of their lives. Can a trip to a farm during lambing season force Pam to challenge her long-held beliefs? And will the realities of meat processing save their new livestock?
