48 Hours The Disappearance of Maddi Kingsbury Airs April 13 2024 on CBS

Get ready for another gripping episode of “48 Hours” as it returns with its signature investigative reports on crime and justice cases. Airing on CBS this Saturday at 10:00 PM, viewers can expect to be immersed in riveting stories that delve deep into real-life mysteries and legal battles.

When a 26-year-old mother of two, Madeline “Maddi” Kingsbury, from Winona, Minn., went missing, her distraught sister headed to TikTok and pleaded with the public to help find her. For 68 days, Megan Kingsbury documented her sister’s disappearance. Peter Van Sant reports in 48 HOURS: “The Disappearance of Maddi Kingsbury”.

On March 31, 2023, when Megan Kingsbury did not hear from her sister, she first reached out to Adam Fravel, who lived with Maddi Kingsbury and is the father of their two children.

Megan Kingsbury tells 48 HOURS when she called Fravel he told her he was concerned too because he hadn’t heard from her and he was at his parents’ house with the kids.

An emotional Megan Kingsbury then took to social media. In one of her TikTok posts she said, “My sister is still missing … Police and other law enforcement are obviously still searching, everyone’s frustrated, and we just can’t figure out where she is.”

Eventually, an estimated 2,000 volunteers joined the search. The search went on for more than two months, until June 7, 2023. Maddi Kingsbury’s body was found wrapped in a gray bed sheet that seemed to match a set found at the home she shared with Fravel. Police arrested Fravel and charged him with first-degree murder.

In a strange twist, Megan Kingsbury had told police about a comment she said Fravel made 18 months before Maddi Kingsbury’s disappearance. Megan Kingsbury tells 48 HOURS that Fravel told her sister, “You know if you don’t start listening up … you know you’ll end up like Gabby Petito.” Gabby Petito is a young woman who was tragically killed by her boyfriend in fall of 2021.

According to the criminal complaint, Adam Fravel admitted he made those Gabby Petito comments but claimed he was “trying to make a joke.” He denied any physical abuse. During the search, he put out a statement that read in part, “I have cooperated with law enforcement at every turn … I did not have anything to do with Maddi’s disappearance.”
