Early 1760s in West Yorkshire. After seven years in Birmingham, David Hartley is returning to his family’s secluded moor-top home. Gravely injured and dragging a curious bag of tools, he receives assistance from six fabled stag-men, who inform him that his task on Earth is not yet complete.
