48 Hours Missing Marsha Airs August 24 2024 on CBS

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, CBS will rebroadcast an encore episode of “48 HOURS” titled “Missing Marsha” at 9:00 PM, ET/PT. Correspondent Peter Van Sant investigates the perplexing case of Marsha Brantley’s disappearance and the subsequent legal battle against her husband, Donnie Brantley.

The case of Marsha Brantley, who vanished in 2009 from Cleveland, Tennessee, was marked by its unusual circumstances. For several months after her disappearance, no one reported her missing. It wasn’t until her hairdresser, Kelly DeLude, noticed Marsha had missed an appointment that the case began to attract attention. DeLude’s concern led her to contact the authorities, prompting an investigation into Marsha’s sudden disappearance.

Donnie Brantley, Marsha’s husband, initially claimed that she had left him, which is why he had not reported her missing. As the investigation progressed, police discovered discrepancies in Donnie’s statements regarding Marsha’s whereabouts and what she had taken with her. Despite these inconsistencies, the investigation was hampered by the lack of a body, making it difficult to establish that a murder had occurred.

Donnie Brantley was arrested in 2013, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. However, District Attorney General Stephen Crump refiled charges against Brantley in 2014. The case took another unexpected turn in February 2018, just before the trial was set to begin, when Crump dropped the charges once more, leaving many stunned by the sudden development.

This episode of “48 HOURS” will provide an in-depth look at the investigation, the challenges faced by the legal system, and the ongoing questions surrounding Marsha Brantley’s disappearance. The program will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
