Investigation Discovery Renews “High Speed Chase” for Second Season

Investigation Discovery (ID) has announced the early renewal of its freshman series “High Speed Chase” ahead of its season finale. The show, which premiered on July 11, has garnered significant viewership, attracting more than 5.8 million viewers across ID, Max, and discovery+. It has also ranked as ID’s #3 freshman series in 2023 among Adults 25-54.

“High Speed Chase” offers viewers an inside look at astonishing police chases, featuring never-before-seen footage that provides an authentic glimpse into the intense world of criminals attempting to escape law enforcement. The series has gained popularity for its mix of shocking chase footage and compelling witness testimony.

The success of “High Speed Chase” has contributed to ID’s strong performance, making it the #1 ad-supported cable network (excluding sports) in total day with Women 25-54 for the past four consecutive months.

Jason Sarlanis, President Turner Networks, ID & HLN, Linear & Streaming, expressed enthusiasm for the show, highlighting its engaging content and role in ID’s programming lineup.

The upcoming season finale, titled “Interstate Boat Chase,” promises two high-stakes chases. The first involves a man who shoots two police officers after being served eviction papers and then embarks on a high-speed car chase while towing a boat behind his vehicle. In the second part, two robbery suspects flee in a U-Haul truck, leading to a dramatic pursuit into a busy intersection.

The show’s success and early renewal echo ID’s track record of renewing series that achieve strong viewership in their freshman seasons. Notable renewals in the past include “The Playboy Murders,” “Death by Fame,” and “Murder Under the Friday Night Lights.”
